DOODLE LIT FOR ARTY READERS

One of my biggest thrills is finding things that make two of my interests collide. This doesn’t happen all that much, but when it does…oh my gosh! Here’s a few examples: my love of books and organizing! My love of reading and cool t-shirts! My love of family time and learning!

And here’s one more…my love of doodling and literature.

Timberdoodle asked me to review Doodle Lit. It’s meant to be for my kids. But I must be honest. This is for me. But the kidsย do enjoy it too.Doodle literature for your lit loving art kids.

What is Doodle lit?

Doodle Lit is a coloring and doodling book with a literature theme on the greatest classics. You can expect to:

Get the 6 Secrets to a Simpler Mom Life

  • doodle Mr. Darcy’s dog
  • design an invitation to Romeo and Juliet’s masquerade ball
  • sketch a pair of candleabras from Jane Eyre (but don’t leave them lit at night!)
  • color and cut out mustaches for your very one Mad Hatter tea party
  • create patterns for classic clothing in Sherlock Holmes
  • and so much more! This book is HUGE!

Doodle Lit is organized into sections according to the novel. At the beginning of each section is a bit of fun information on the author and/or their work of literature. Here’s the books you can expect to doodle about:

  • Pride and Prejudice
  • Romeo and Juliet
  • Jane Eyre
  • Alice in Wonderland
  • Dracula
  • Moby-Dick
  • Sherlock Holmes
  • Wuthering Heights
  • The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
  • The Jungle Book
  • Anna Karenina

Mask-making to go to Romeo and Juliet’s masquerade ball.

Who would enjoy Doodle Lit?

Um, anyone? Well, ok maybe not anyone. But I do think that Doodle Lit would be pretty great for almost anyone in school.

  • Your little literature lovers. (Obviously) If you and your children already love classic lit, you’re going to love this doodle book. There are SO many prompts in here!
  • If you have some one that’s not so much into literature but is creatively bent. You child (or you!) can use markers, colored pencils, crayons, paints, glitter, scissors, collage, ribbons, buttons, sequins or whatever else you can find!
  • Doodle Lit is a great save for really cold or rainy days when you still want your kids to be “doing school” but you’re kind of done teaching.
  • This would also be a great guide in choosing classic lit. You could definitely add Doodle Lit to your classic read alouds and make it a whole unit study. The art part is done for you!

We are huge fans of Doodle Lit! Have you ever used it? What are your best resources for literature besides the actual books?
