I love finding fun things to strew around the house for my kids to find and entertain themselves with. New card games, books, art supplies–these are all great ideas. But what my kids really love to find is games. I will be real with you and tell you that yes, my kids usually end up fighting when they play, but they always want to get back on the horse, and I respect their effort.
I received the game Creature Quest to try out with my kids and give my feedback. We loved it and I think you might too.
Do your kids like things a little bit creepy? You want to pique their interest without dealing with nightmares at night? This game is a win for both of you.
Let’s talk about Creature Quest.
How to play Creature Quest
Psst! This is actually a math game. Don’t tell your kids!
While your kids skip around the game board, they’re actually going to be practicing and visualizing the concept of positive and negative numbers. Brilliant, right?!
Game set up is really easy. (There’s no bigger buzz kill than having to “figure out” a game for an hour before actually getting to play.)
Each player grabs a wooden game piece. Players then roll the die and draw the story cards to tell them where they must go. Beware of Medusa! Oh, and there’s trolls as well, among other creatures.
